Clicky was launched back in 2006 and was coded from scratch by an individual coder. This is one of the few popular web based applications that has not been snapped up by a bigger fish. The company is based out of Portland, Oregon and currently includes Lead Developer Sean Hammons.
Many applications provide a list of web analytics tools. What makes Clicky stand out is the diverse collection of options and features that are included with it. The user can view their statistics on a number of devices, including computers, iPads, iPhones and Android phones. The application also monitors more than simple website visitors. The user can track Twitter conversations, videos, downloads and more.
Clicky has a rather laid back, subdued color scheme that features a soft orange, gentle blue and hints of red, green and yellow. The site is primarily white and favors smaller elements, such as tiny icons and small size fonts. This allows Clicky to present a great deal of information in an organized manner. The analytics tools utilize color line charts, bar graphs and lists organized into columns so the user can gather specific bits of information or review the overall status of their site.
A new user can create a Clicky account by clicking on the red and white “Register Now” button found in the upper, left hand portion of the site. The following page presents the user with the registration form which requires an email address, real name, username, password and preferred language. The user is also asked to provide the URL for the website they would like to track with Clicky.
Clicky provides all new users with a free basic account. The basic option is automatically chosen when the user signs up and includes advertisements, tracking for one website and up to 3,000 daily page views. The user can upgrade to a Starter plan for around $5 per month or $30 per year. The Starter plan includes up to three websites and 10,000 page views. The Pro plan costs around $10 per month and $60 per year and includes up to 10 websites and 30,000 page views. The Super Pro plan costs around $25 per month and $150 per year and allows up to 30 websites and 100,000 page views. A custom plan option is available. The price for a custom plan will vary based on the number of sites and page views the user selects.
Clicky is a helpful tool for anyone who owns a website or monitors websites. The membership options make Clicky an appealing option for startup websites as well as larger businesses that maintain many websites.
